Sending limits and the slow start.
How many emails each mailbox sends a day, and why new mailboxes start small.
Every mailbox has a daily limit. It counts all emails: first emails and follow-ups.
The slow start
A new mailbox starts small and grows:
| Week | Emails a day |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | 10 |
| Week 2 | 20 |
| Week 3 | 30 |
After three weeks, the mailbox uses its full daily limit. The mailbox card shows the day you’re on, for example “Slow start, day 5 of 21”.
Google and Microsoft trust new senders slowly. A slow start keeps your domain safe.
Already using this mailbox for a long time? You can turn the slow start off. Open the mailbox’s Settings and untick Slow start.
Daily limits
- Default: 30 a day. Zoho: 25 a day.
- Google and Microsoft mailboxes usually stay safe under 30 to 50 a day.
- Need more? Add more mailboxes rather than pushing one mailbox hard.
Change the limit in the mailbox’s Settings. A campaign also has its own limit for each mailbox it uses. A mailbox never sends more than its own daily limit in total, across all campaigns.
New domains
A domain younger than 30 days stays at 10 emails a day, even with the slow start off. New domains are distrusted. The mailbox card shows “New domain”.
When a provider asks us to slow down
Sometimes Gmail, Microsoft or another provider replies “too many emails, try later”. We pause that mailbox:
- Google and Microsoft: for 24 hours.
- Other providers: for 1 hour.
Sending starts again on its own. The mailbox card shows when.
Bounce limits
Each campaign pauses itself when its bounce rate reaches its limit (default 5%). See Bounces and auto-pause.
