# Connect a Google Workspace mailbox

Connect Gmail or Google Workspace with an app password.

You connect a Google mailbox with an **app password**. An app password is a special password just for us. Your normal password stays private.

## Before you start

App passwords need **2-Step Verification** on the Google account. If you use Google Workspace, your admin may need to allow app passwords.

## Create the app password

1.  Open **myaccount.google.com**.
2.  Go to **Security**, then **App passwords**.
3.  Type a name, for example “GTM and Outreach”.
4.  Click **Create**. Google shows a 16-letter password. Copy it.

## Connect it

1.  In the app, go to **Mailboxes** and click **Connect mailbox**.
2.  Choose **Google Workspace**.
3.  Enter your full email address and paste the app password.
4.  Click **Connect**.

We sign in to Google’s servers to check the login, and send a test email. Then the mailbox is connected.

## After you connect

-   **Check your domain.** Open the domain on the Mailboxes page. Fix any red SPF, DKIM or DMARC badges. See [Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC](/help/dns-records).
-   **Slow start.** A new mailbox sends 10, then 20, then 30 emails a day over three weeks. See [Sending limits and the slow start](/help/slow-start).

## If it doesn’t work

-   **“Invalid login”**: check you used the app password, not your normal password.
-   **No “App passwords” option**: turn on 2-Step Verification first. In Google Workspace, ask your admin to allow app passwords.
-   Passwords are stored encrypted. We never show them again.
